Furoshiki is a Japanese wrapping technique with a long history that can be traced back to the Edo era (1603-1868). At the time, it was the most common method of transport due to its convenience and efficiency. You could frequently see people walking around with bundles of clothes, presents, and other items wrapped in furoshiki. Bags, pouches, and other accessories were all made using the Furoshiki. It was so effective that the method was passed down through the ages.
